Shown above is the Chevrolet SS standard with 415 units of fun from its 6.2 L V8. I'm not sure how new it is, but I just recently found out about it reading !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! article about how expensive trucks are nowadays, which led me to exploring Chevy's website to find this.

I have many mixed emotions about the SS and all that's coming up in my head is how much of a sleeper car this is. I feel that it looks like another version of an impala or a malibu - a 4-door family sedan, except for the fact that there is an absolutely monstrous engine under the hood.
Starting at $43,475 with the options of a $500 full size spare tire and a $900 power sunroof, I don't feel that I would buy one ... yet.

I'd definitely want one, but not that that price.
It's an auto only. :(

My biggest complaint aside from the lack of a manual transmission is the bland looks. I can appreciate a sleeper, but the VE Commodore/Pontiac G8 was a better looking car than the VF is.

Not at that price and not without a manual.
I have a feeling GM is going to fail on launching this platform once again.

I hate to admit it..
I love the "bland" looks. LOVE! I rarely used that word when I was married.
I'm getting tired of every car and truck on the road having "IN YOUR FACE YO!" styling.
Maybe I'm too old. Maybe it's low T and I need a pill or patch. Who knows..

Big, heavy, expensive and ho-hum styling. Needs a bit more power to make it a true sleeper...

How did you not know about this? … please see to my post a few months ago as to which car I would get instead of the Chevy SS.

I really don't mind "bland" cars. Aside from the taillights my Dart is pretty anonymous looking. The SS just isn't attractive to me. I want to love it like I love the VE, but I just can't. To me, the Impala is a much more visually appealing car. I'd take an SRT8 Super Bee over this.

When it doesn't sell, they'll be available for $25k. Just wait a few months.

I get it. I'd never buy a vehicle that I couldn't stand back and appreciate. I've known people that bought butt ugly cars and they all have the same reasoning. "I don't have to look at it when I'm driving" or "look at the interior".
I'm just getting tired of the Catfish face on every car. The SS seems to have some humility about it.
I just wish it had a real name. Impala would work..

Yeah, they've done a horrible job marketing this thing.

I just explored Chevy's website and saw the SS under the performance tab.

For some reason, when I saw this image, I had James May's voice crop up in my mind and say "Hello." in that awkward way of his when trying to introduce himself to a group of women.
We need a lot more HSV and Walkinshaw in our lives here in the US.
EDIT:
I've just had a bit of a crisis.

...They didn't have one at the auto show when I went last week. The most important Auto show in the lower southeast, and they didn't have one on display...

Great idea.
Bad execution on many levels.

How is it so slow? An E60 BMW 550i weighs nearly the same (3946 vs. 3975) but has 55 less HP (360 vs. 415). It does the 0-60 hustle in 5.1 seconds (the SS manages 5.0). I would have thought a car that is 8 years newer would be more efficient.

Pretty sure you're the only one dude. I drove one on Thursday. It was very, very good.
